Commission a bespoke artifact
We need our stories to understand ourselves. This is why Ria's Time Capsule Portraits are such treasures. They tell the story of you or someone or something you care for deeply. This labor of love requires deep listening to truly bring to life what brings meaning to your chosen subject. This is why Ria can only take on one commission at a time for her one-of-a-kind bespoke artifacts. Spots are secured with non-refundable ticketed reservations (100 USD). If you decide not to go through with the commission, you can apply the credit to collect original art in the future.
The Bespoke Process
A Time Capsule Portrait is more than just a painting. It is a process of deep listening and bearing witness to the subject's stories and bringing them to life. Collectors find that working with Ria to source photos from the family archives is richly meaningful in and of itself—resurfacing long forgotten stories and memories. To be able to give each portrait the appropriate attention, Ria creates only one bespoke artifact at a time.

RESERVE A SPOT

Secure a spot with the reservation fee (100 USD). Once received, Ria will connect with you via email to schedule the next steps in bringing your vision to life (within 2-3 days). After connecting on a 60-min Zoom on your shared vision, the timeline for your commission can be established. Ria's commission calendar is reserved on a first come, first serve basis. If commissions are currently sold out, you can still get on the waitlist/subscribe to Secret Sketches—subscribers are the first to know when commission spots open.

REVIEW THE SKETCH

Ria will provide a concept sketch for your review and approval. With approval on the approach (size, colors, themes, symbols, source material, etc.), a 50% deposit will be due. The deposit is non-refundable and will be applied towards the overall cost of the commission.​​​

YOUR ARTIFACT COMES TO LIFE

Ria will spend 6-12 weeks creating an heirloom artifact on either stretched canvas or wood panel. Oil paint will need an additional 3-4 weeks for curing. Curing times vary so if additional curing time is needed, we will let you know.

DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR

Once ready, your piece will be carefully packaged and delivered safely to your door, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
